Elevate Supported Internships is an exciting new provision for young people with an EHCP.
Currently we are supporting those with an aspiration to work in the construction and maintenance industry to take a large step into the world of work in these areas.
The intention is for young people to be ready for employment or apprenticeship.
Our Vision
The aims of the provision are to elevate young people into the world of work, preparing them for adult life and work.
Course programme
The supported internship is a 1-year course. The intention at the end of the internship is paid employment (the 1-year internship is unpaid unless the employer chooses otherwise). Young people must have the capacity and ability to sustain a place in work if placed with us.
If required we can extend this period into a pre-internship (of 3-6 months) this allows for more time to be spent up-skilling our young people ready for work, at which point the 1-year internship placement will begin.
During the induction period Elevate with work with the young person and local employers to experience different work places of interest and then secure a 1-year placement with them.
During the work placement the students time table will include 2 days at Elevate and 3 days in the work place, (or 1 day at Elevate and 4 days in the workplace in some circumstances dependent of qualifications and need).
